Five games that should have been on the PS3

Playstation 3

Many games just don’t get the attention they deserve. Although these games may not have suffered completely from poor sales, I believe they could have received more love if they were only released on a different console.

Manhunt 2
Manhunt 2 wasn’t accepted to well for the Wii. The Wii version was edited by far more than the PS2 version. The media has such a tight eye on Nintendo maintaining a clean image, it’s hard for any Nintendo game to get away with even saying the word ‘Damn’ in it. Manhunt originally received a Rated A and was banned for a short time. Manhunt 2 was no worse than Manhunt one on the PSone. The media didn’t seem to lift a finger to complain about its gruesome nature back then. If this game were on the PS3 and had high quality life-like graphics, I still don’t think it would have been banned. Nintendo gets the “you should know better” attitude.

Crysis
If any console right now could handle the technical requirements for this game, it would be the PS3. There are barely any PC’s that can run this game well. Putting Crysis on the PS3 could give Crysis more exposure simply because people can actually run it. That is, if it could even run on the PS3 in the first place! At least on a console you wont have to run out and upgrade any parts.

Lost Odyssey
There is an old saying about the how the Sony PlayStation’s Role-Playing Game (RPG) library converted most video game players to the system. Maybe I just said that… but the PlayStation and the PlayStation 2 no doubt had not only the most, but the highest quality RPGs. I think Lost Odyssey on the PS3 would satisfy the owners of a PS3 simply because that’s what they expect from a PlayStation console. Some day PlayStation fans will be able to get ‘lost’ in the upcoming Final Fantasy game still slated for release. Till then Lost Odyssey would have, should have, could have kept long time PlayStation fans entertained.

Blue Dragon
As with Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon may have gotten more love from PS3 owners. This Xbox exclusive seems out of place when put next to the systems winners such as Halo 3, Gears of War, Orange Box. Blue Dragon was created by the same people who brought the best RPG’s to the PlayStation and PlayStation 2. Again, PlayStation fans expect these kind of RPGs and will eat them up like the eye candy they would be. Unfortunately, any RPG living in the shadow of Halo 3, can only suffer the same eerie fate many Mass Multi-player RPGs experience against the mighty hand of World of Warcraft.

Beautiful Katamari
The Katamari series originated from the PlayStation. Many gamers don’t even know Katamari exists on the Xbox 360. I think Beautiful Katamari would have gotten its expected love from a PS3 owner. The series already made an association with the PlayStation as much as Metal Gear Solid has. Additionally, the SixAxis control scheme could have been a very nice addition to the series.
