CNN thinks all video game bloggers are losers.

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

Glenn Beck of CNN thinks video game bloggers are all losers. As a working professional and a video game blogger, I do take direct offense of such a statement. What exactly is his definition of ‘loser’ first of all? I could care less about CNN or him but I have no interest in attacking news industry. Aside from his blatant immaturity, the co-author of Grand Theft Childhood, Cheryl K. Olson, makes some very interesting points. Her statements make me really want to check out her book. In this video, Glenn Beck comes across what we gamers call a 12 year old. You know, those people in games (especially online) that are immature for no reason at all other than to attempt to gain attention with what they think is humorous.

Sonic_The_Hedgehog_Unleashed

According the the June issue of Nintendo Power, Sonic Unleashed will find Sonic returning to his roots. Unlike the more recent 3-D Sonic games, Sonic Unleashed will focus primarily on 2-D game-play. The camera angle will occasionally pan behind Sonic but most of the game-play will be a from a side view similar the original Sega Genesis games. Sonic Unleashed will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. Sega of America implies that the XBox 360 and Playstation 3 versions may be the same, but the Wii version will be significantly different. Naturally, the Wii version will have unique control scheme.

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Casual Edition (part 1)

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

I get my copy of Grand Theft Auto IV for the Xbox 360 today. I will be back in a few days to post my impressions about it. I never really played the previous versions of the game. However, I did own GTA Vice City (just like the rest of the world) but I spent all my time just driving around and listening to the really great soundtrack. I’m looking forward to playing Grand Theft Auto IV online. I imagine this is what will convert me to the series. I consider myself more of a “casual gamer” so this will be interesting.

Lost Cities on Xbox Live Arcade

Lost Cities Xbox Live Arcade

There will be no new Xbox Live Arcade game this week (probably due to the GTA IV release). Lost Cities was released last week. So if you haven’t already, perhaps you can give Lost Cities a shot this week. It is a 2-player card game I’m finding quite addictive. The premise is that you are an archeologist set to begin expeditions to lost cities. It costs money for each expedition so the idea is to come out in the end with a nice profit higher than the opponent.

AudioSurf XBox Live Bound?

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

AudioSurf has been available on Valve’s Steam service for some time now. There has been a recent rumor that it will be appearing on Xbox Live soon. Unfortunately, these rumors don’t look to promising. I have been playing AudioSurf for the PC and using the Xbox 360 Controller. I can see this being a good match also considering the PC version awards achievements similar to those on Xbox Live. Personally, I’d like to see AudioSurf on the Zune or IPod in the future. Keep reading and you’ll figure out why an mp3 player would be a perfect match for this kind of game. (more…)
